The true flavor of the South is served up in Swamp Gravy, Georgia's Folk Life Play. Swamp Gravy gleans the comedy and tragedy of daily life from family stories, tall tales and folklore from Southwest Georgia - true stories that celebrate the culture that is uniquely rural Georgia. Swamp Gravy promises to make you laugh and cry as these real life stories are woven into a spellbinding play year after year.

Swamp Gravy is professionally written, directed, and designed. With a new play produced each year in October, Swamp Gravy continues the Southern tradition of storytelling. The plays are performed by a cast of over 100 community volunteers.

Swamp Gravy also contains a generous dose of original and traditional music and dance that creates a grand scale stage production that is sure to please old and young alike.

Swamp Gravy's home is a 70-year-old cotton warehouse aptly named Cotton Hall. This fully equipped facility maintains its rustic flavor while offering state-of-the-art lighting, eye appealing set design and multi-level staging. From rafters to floor, the design of the theater makes every seat in Cotton Hall a good one.

The play is performed on weekends in March and October, and during the annual Mayhaw Festival in April. Call today for performance dates and make your reservations as soon as possible for this must-see regional event.
